Brackett's Landing, Edmonds, Washington

Friday during lunch I made a visit to Brackett's Landing at the beach front of Edmonds, Washington. This park maintained by the City of Edmonds is also home of an underwater park set up by the city for coldwater diving.

Brackett's Landing is to the right of the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry terminal (as you enter the Ferry to leave Edmonds). There you'll see the ferry come and go, smell the salty air and the aroma of Indian cuisine all mixed together, and hear the seagulls fight for bread as visitors feed them.

My photo journal gives you a quick over view of what you would see if you made a visit to the park.

On this day I was lucky that we were having wonderful weather. It made for some really nice shots.

Museum of Flight Restoration Center - FM-2 Wildcat Restoration

The Museum of Flight Restoration Center is a magical place where time turns back and generations of today see how their grandparents fought the wars of yesterday in the air.

A group of amazing volunteer restoration engineers, layman and do-gooders spend their time tearing down and then putting back together some of the most amazing machines man made to fly.

When you walk into this non-descript hanger North of Paine Field in Everett, Washington, you are transported into an active workplace where multiple planes are being restored, all at different stages of completion.

The timeline to completion is at the pace of the volunteers, and the work is second to none. Most of the planes are destined to stay at the hanger or go into a static museum installation. But while they are at the MofFR they are available to be seen up close and personal while the pieces are the most naked.

If you're lucky, like I was, you get to talk to one of the volunteers, and they will fill your head with more information you ever thought you'd ever want to know about a FM-2 Wildcat.

But once they are done, you walk away with a great sense of appreciation for the work these individuals are accomplishing.

My kudos to all who have contributed to making this museum possible.

Below is the link to my photo tourist slideshow of the Wildcat.

Hope you are inspired to visit this facility and get close to history.

The Museum of Flight Restoration Center

Today during lunch I made a visit to The Museum of Flight Restoration Center.

It's about 8 min from my work.

After grabbing some Taco Bell, I headed to the museum, not expecting to be impressed.

No disrespect, but its a "museum" destination, and my expectations weren't that high.

Was I WRONG!

I'll post the photo tourist slideshow(s) this evening as I took over 200 shots and want to compose them to give the best experience. This place is a great place to take kids on a rainy, windy, yucky day...like today.

I highly recommend a visit (and a donation when you get there)!

Check back later for the goods.

Thanks,

Drive by shooting in Everett, Washington

I had to adjust today for my photo expedition. My wife had a dentist appointment, and I had to watch our 3 year old during my lunch hour. But never fear, I took sleeping Bijan with me, and did some drive by shootings (with my camera of course). Today I drove to Forest Park in Everett, Washington to visit the Animal Farm. Did I get a surprise!

On the way there I saw a beautifully restored Kenworth Fire Truck, and on the way back stopped at the Harbor View Park. This trip was shorter and than yesterday. But I think there are some great photos of the surroundings anyways.

Windy Mukilteo Washington

Today at lunch I went to the waterfront in Mukilteo, Washington. Since it's so close to me and lots of great shots to be found, you'll probably see a lot of trips here. It was very windy today which made the clouds disappear so I could take some great shots. There are some really nice ones especially the one out my sunroof.

Places I went include:
- Mukilteo Waterfront Park (Direct Link)
- Woody's Market (great ice cream btw) (Direct Link)
- Mukilteo Ferry Terminal (Direct Link)
